About your appointment

Our surgeon, Dr Michael Wertheim, is a comprehensive general ophthalmologist and treats all eye diseases from dry eye to macula degeneration. He has a special interest in Cataract and Pterygium Surgery and inflammatory diseases of the eye.

As Perth Eye Clinic is a specialist ophthalmic practice you require a valid referral from either an optometrist or doctor in order to claim any Medicare rebate.

How do I make an appointment?

Please call Perth Eye Clinic reception for an appointment on (08) 9312 7222 and fax number (08) 9312 7333. Please inform the receptionist if you would like an appointment for Murdoch or Baldivis.

What do I need to bring?

As it is likely that your pupils will be dilated, we suggest that you bring some sunglasses and somebody to help you get home or take public transport, as your vision may be too blurry to drive.

You should also bring:

  • Your current spectacles
  • Valid referral from either an optometrist or doctor
  • List of your past medical problems
  • List of your current medications and allergies
  • Your medicare card
  • Your pension card, or private health insurance details

How long will my appointment take?

Please allow 1-2 hours for your appointment. This allows us to dilate your pupils so that you can be properly examined, and also allows you to have all of the testing and treatment (if necessary) that you require. You will be assessed fully by an Ophthalmic Assessor followed by your consultation with Dr Wertheim.

How can I pay?

We accept all major credit cards, EFTPOS and cash. It is our practice’s policy that payment for your appointment is made on the day.

All appointments are by prior arrangement only.
